Work from over seven years was hard to skim through. The lines get all blurry each time I try and put them under shapes. So far, I have singled out only hoops and now these.

A very happy and love filled new year to you all! 2012 went by in a jiffy... Lots happened... good and not so good... marriages, passing away, travels, breaks (of bones), growth, learnings, partnering... and more.

I would not even apologize for being away and not blogging... it would not cover a thing!

A fabulous thing that happened is... I offered a dear and gorgeous friend Divya to become my partner on some collections... and guess what! She agreed... secretly at first... under the pseudonym Mehrunisa. Openly then...

We both have very different sensibilities and a knack for details. Her ideology is more Indian than mine. Cohesively we build up on each others ideas to create a stunning mix of our languages. In some designs you will see more of my style (concurrent) and a touch of hers...and vise versa.

Exclusively for Sanctum

Previous post began with thanking Sandhya Gorthi of The Shop. This post contains pictures from the new customized and exclusive collection for a new brilliant lifestyle store in Mumbai (19th road, Khar) called 'Sanctum'. This ones too owned by the same amazing woman called Sandhya Gorthi.

Sanctum is a fabulous split level 'Shabby chic' store thats all about affordable designs.

My partner for this project is a very interesting young lady called Mehrunisa. She helps me in maintaining the sugar in my designs and I help her with spices ;) Have I told you I love sugar! and cry at the mere mention of spices.

For the earrings above... I was just scribbling with my pencil. Nisa (Mehrunisa) just took my pencil and added a hook to one of my scribbles. And voila! 

Design wise, we compliment each other like roti and sabji...

A large number of pieces have been designed by Coyote specially for this project. Will add more soon. Some sooper interesting and unusual nose pins are going to show up too! The brief was to keep the pieces for the store pocket friendly and very Coyote!

mere paas 'maa' hai... tere paas 'key' hai...?!

Maa (mom) to theek hai... the question is whether to 'key' or not to 'key'...

An incident that happened in 2007-08 inspired me to make this design. the story goes like... 


In 2007-08 season of cricket, Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh was accused of abusing Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds. Wonder why was calling 'monkey' termed as a racial abuse... just because Symonds is from mixed race maybe?!


Coming back to the monkey business.... I mean the story behind the 'monkey calling'. Only Indians knew this one. These two got into a verbal brawl. And Harbhajan being the hot headed punjabi munda, must have said 'teri maa ki...' Which loosely means 'your mum's...' and nothing further. Its a way of teasing or say partially abusing. And all Symonds understood and held onto was 'maa-key', which eventually made sense as 'monkey' to him.  Indian news channels were flooded with this revelation and amusing piece for days.


And this is how came the 'ki' to the 'maa'...

One night some friends were partying at my old house. Two of them (one sporty and one experimental) saw these two pairs of earrings (maa-key) that had arrived the same evening. They loved it and picked them up right then and to spice things up further, both kept gold for one ear and silver for the other.

I have been enjoying a lot lately ...funning and friending. An old design of mine in a new look just arrived and is all black.. I fell for it completely! During the blackening process, some random marks appeared on it. And thats what excited me the most! (visible on the left side of the image) These silverish marks add so much character and individuality... just love them! 


Also, a crazy-fun friend of mine had come to stay with us for the last weekend. She introduced me to this very infectious french song... I love Dance.

A glimpse of my up coming collection. All around coins.. Indian 5re coins.. Money/coins always excite me. Who doesn't get worked up about it?

Completely adore it. The stone is half set and half stuck on the sikka. It's actually at an angle, the base is lower than the coin and the tip higher. Ring and neckpiece will follow soon. 


By the way! This collection will be called 'Paanch Rupaiyya'. All the coins used in this one are usable and not damaged at all.
